The college promotes all round development of personality of students by encouraging them to participate in dramatics, music, dance, debating, excursions, NSS, NCC and in inter-collegiate competitions also through the following associations.The South Indians' Welfare Society was founded in 1934 with an objective to provide educational facilities to the local population. Initially , the Society started a Primary School at Shivaji Park, Dadar in 1934 and another at Matunga in 1936. Later, a High School was started to meet the growing needs of its own students of the Primary Schools with the first batch passing the S.S.C Examination in 1947. Presently the Primary and Secondary Schools of the Society have a student strength of 4000. In 1976, a Junior College of the Commerce Stream was begun with a view to provide higher education to a section of its own students at the School. This was followed by the opening of a Degree College in Commerce and Economics in June 1980.

Admission Criteria	Secured minimum 45% marks at the H.S.C Examination or its equivalent for the General Category (at the first attempt) and minimum 40% marks for the Reserved Category (at first attempt) On the basis of Score Secured at the Centralized Common Entrance Examination (CCEE)Diploma in any Engineering branch conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, with two years or three years or four years after passing the SSC Examination or any examination recognized as equivalent thereto and should have secured not less than 45% marks in the case of students belonging to open Category and not less than 40% marks in the case of students belong to Reserved Category.Admission under the minority quota will be strictly on merit on the basis of score obtained in the CCEE held in April 2005.
