Vidya Dhanam Sarva Dhanat Pradhanam .This universally accepted Sanskrit dictum which means “wealth of knowledge is prime among all wealth” is inscribed in the Society’s emblem, and is most expressive of its mission. If vidya dhanam is so highly valued, it follows that vidya dhanam (the giving of knowledge) is no less important; it is the one wealth which one can give without losing, and in fact gaining in the process.

With these thoughts, a handful of South Indian persons established the Society on Christmas Day in 1933 and started a primary school on July 4, 1934 in Shivaji Park, with just four students on its rolls. Two years later, a primary school was also established in Matunga, and a few years later, Wadala became the principal area of the Society’s activities. From a humble beginning, the Society has now in its K.G., primary school, secondary school, junior college and commerce degree college as many as 9697 students belonging to various communities.
